Yellowroot for sale - WH001
(Xanthorhiza simplicissima)
Whole dried plants including roots, underground stems, and leaves
$10.00 - free shipping

Yellowroot is one of the best medicinal plants known to mankind. Our yellowroot plants are harvested as-needed right here in the North Georgia Mountains! All of our herbs are hand selected and held to the highest standards. These yellowroot plants grow nearby on the creek bank and have never been sprayed or chemically treated in any way.

The "xanthorhiza simplicissima" plants are pulled, washed in pure spring water, gently dried, packaged whole, and then shipped to our customers straight from the farm. This package of yellowroot contains 2 or more whole dried plants and makes about one pint of strong tea. Directions on back of label. This is a 4" x 6" bag with approximately 1/3 ounce of whole yellowroot plants. Current year's harvest is guareented - we never ship old plant material. Yellowroot is usually shipped within weeks of harvesting as we only harvest as our dried supply dwindles.

Some people chew yellowroot to help cure mouth sores, gum disease, and sore throat. Here on Payne Mountain Farms, we make a cup of tea when needed out of the plant's roots and stems using 1-2 tablespoons of plant material to 1-2 cups of water (no need to peel off bark although breaking material into small pieces is recommended.) Simmer for 2-3 minutes then steep for an hour. We drink a teaspoon of tea every few hours throughout the day and then drink down what's left before bed time.

Yellowroot tea can help everything from digestive and urinary complaints to gum disease and mouth sores to colds and flu symptoms. Add honey and lemon if desired to improve taste (yellowroot is bitter tasting).

*Avoid yellowroot in pregnancy. Do not use if you have high blood pressure. Do not use internally for more than three weeks. (The plant should not be eaten fresh.) The safety of yellow root in nursing women, children, and people with kidney and liver disease is unknown. Side effects are rare but yellowroot can cause mouth irritation and nervousness. Yellowroot may also cause motion sickness in some individuals. Discontinue use if dizziness occurs. Always consult with a physician or health care professional before using any herbal remedy.

"And God said, To every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth wherein there is life, I have given EVERY GREEN HERB for meat: and it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold it was very good.  And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." Genesis 1:29-31

"The only way to really learn about herbal medicine is to touch and smell herbs, taste them, use them daily, and grow them if possible. Herbal medicine is a way of life - it is not a quick fix."... Janice Boling
